Tried to use Fedex's international shipping estimator, the package is a whopping two pounds and will be about 13" x 13" x 6", big freakin' deal right? Estimator shows $166 to send it to Germany!?!?!?

What the heck?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

for an accurate reasonable quote, GO to the Post Office with the package, it is much more accurate then the estimator on overseas packages

Also good info.
I'm afraid I may be dealing with a non-paying bidder also. I clearly specified in my Ebay listing that I will not ship internationally, but OOOOPS, some moron from Germany won two similar items with similar end times, and no comms. after an initial email saying he would pay once I invoiced a shipping estimate.

You know you can do a second chance offer for the second highest bidder? Unless it was a "buy now" You don't have to ship over seas if you didn't offer. Also, you can get USPS postage online and save 10%

Un-freaking-believable. The guy paid, but he did comment that he thought the shipping cost was quite high based on his past experience shipping Ger-USA. I agreed and I'll credit him the difference between estimate and actual.
So I take most of it back, he's not a moron, and with the exchange rates swinging heavily in everyone else's favor other than the US of A. I don't blame people from outside the continent for bidding on Ebay items regardless of what the shipping terms state. I was on a cruise recently on which there were a great many Canadians, mostly from Toronto, the exchange rate was so good in their favor they just didn't care and spent money with reckless abandon.
