My handle is fnCramer. When I was a kid, it was Scwinn Stingray, building ramps out of plywood and bricks and pretending I was Evel Knievel. Stingray became Schwinn Scrambler. Scrambler became Mongoose. Loved BMX.
Approaching 50, have been threatening to get a mountain bike for the past 5 years. I need exercise, but hate running and lifting weights. I know myself - tendency to spend a lot of money on something (like a high quality bike) under the theory it will "make me" use it out of guilt. That never works; I still don't use it and have all of the guilt.
Just this week I saw a pic of the Mongoose Beast. I had to have it - it's due to arrive today! For $200 I don't feel any guilt. It looks so ridiculous I'm sure I will ride it here in Illinois flat land. Even if I just slowly cruise, it's a start.
