Is it possible to mount a 26x3" tire to a 26x1.75" wheel?

Looking to get some bigger rubber for a summer project, and I was that insane fat tire look. Is it possible to do this? I'm thinking of using the Kenda Flame tires.

That tire should fit on it. You may run into a problem of the tire fitting into the frame. There are very few bikes with enough clearance. I was able to do it on a old Schwinn Balloon/Heavyweight fork.

I'm going to need an extra 1 inch of clearance for the lower back portion of the frame, near the pedals. Everywhere else on the bike is sound. I'm hoping to accomplish this by crushing/flattening the frame where it will rub, utilizing spacers, and hopefully the use of a narrower wheel with round out the tires more.

If I need a few extra mm of clearence after that I will take a page out of the auto modding book and shave off a little bit of rubber.

actually using a more narrow rim will help you out with the tire fitting the frame. when inflated it will make it just a bit more narrow than say if you used a wide rim which would cause it to balloon out more. just take you time inflating it they can be a bit tricky to bead
