This is not a "Wanted" ad...although I do wish I owned these, unfortunately I probably couldn't afford them.

Just wondering if any of you are lucky enough to own a Schwinn Speedo crossbar or Fender bomb. Both of these are two things that caught my eye when I really started digging the prewar Schwinns. I was lucky enough to score an Autocycle that would have had both of these attached but unfortunately the are gone.

Post pictures if any of your bikes are sporting these!

Speaking of those Hood Ornaments, I saw one recently on the Bay, for a grand, just like that one. Its pretty neat, probably a pain to find.

Yeah, it is still there. Buy It Now $995 or something...That's probably double or triple retail, but you're right, they are rare.

Somebody repro'd the fender bombs. They were something like $500 just for a fake. Both accessories are things I would very much like to have.
Yeah, you're right. They repoped the crossbars too. The one on eBay at the moment is original.

I think a member here not to long ago lucked up and found an Autocycle with all the goods on it...housepainted.

I thought I remembered repro crossbars. I think they only made the fakes for a short time, but they pop up every now and then. I could be wrong though, they might still make them, but I had heard somewhere that purchases never caught up to production, which was minimal to begin with.

If they are available on Ebay, why not just make a fair cash offer to the seller? I always heard Ebay selling prices are the "true market price" of any given thing, so perhaps that is actually the "obtainable" way to acquire this particular "unobatanium".
I doubt these rare items are going to fall into your lap for 33 cents on the dollar anytime soon. ;)

If he is at $995, I can not even think of a number I could pay that could come close to that.

Like I said, not really trying to buy one. Just wondering if anyone here has scored any.

My point was to actually make the guy a fair offer that you are happy with and see what happens. At $995 he may be fishing for a high price because he doesn't know the real value.
If he gets a legit real honest cash offer you never know that he won't take it. It would be a shame to read a Fresh Find post where someone else made him a low offer and he said "Yes".

Yeah, that would suck...maybe I'll hit his best offer button on eBay and see where that goes. It would sure top off the Autocycle whizzer.
