This may be sacrilege, so forgive me ahead of time. :?
I purchased a friend's bike collection yesterday because he was wanting to focus more on his VW Bus and less on old bikes. He made me a very good deal on what he had and even delivered them to me from Oklahoma. I ended up with 6 bikes and one of them was member Justin's (Critter1) "Lackluster" Newsboy Build Off #7 entry.
The bike started in California and then went to Oklahoma where it went on display in a local art museum. After being removed from the museum it found its way to my place in Texas. Surprisingly enough, the only damage the bike incurred throughout its travels was a scratch on the chainguard and the "Lackluster" decals were peeled off by some kid at the museum. Other than that, the bike has remained immaculate and in fantastic condition.
Now here's where the sacrilege comes in. I want to be able to ride the bike and the original set up made it a little tricky for me, so I decided to pull a few parts off of the other bikes that I got to create a more comfortable rider. I swapped out the stem, bars, pedals and seat. The seat is a Phat Cycles springer that is super comfortable and looks really cool too.
Took it out for a spin this morning and it's one beautiful smooth riding bike. Hats off to Justin for building one sweet ride.
Here's the scratch...OUCH!
