I got this one at a yard sale yesterday, it is in really nice shape and all original including a Raleigh bell and tires (not sure about the seat). I still have to give a cleaning and tune up. I know the Records are not the most desireable Raleighs and ladies bikes even less so. My question is on the value. I have $10 into it now. I live near a college and plan to CL it along with some other bikes when the students come back this fall. Any ideas as to a fair asking price?

I disagree. Clean it up, repack everything, adjust, and make sure everything works, ask $65, take $50 if you have to, from your college student crowd. I may be low, that's way less than most anything at Wal-mart when you add in tax they would have to pay. Just my .02.

Any where from $50-100 depending on your location. Bigger cities tend to sell at higher prices. $75 would be a fair asking price.

I say $50 to $75 range. I do love the chopped up mixte's but this one is too nice for that. I like the tail light. It is probably worth the $10 you have in it.

I ask $75. for every bike I have like that and they all sell fast to the college areas, the bike shops and such are getting $125. for the same bikes.

Thanks for all the input. This is why this site is so great. I live in Colorado Springs which is a decent size town. I always want the people who buy my bikes get a good deal and allow me make a little cash as well. I get CL buyers from Denver sometimes, prices are always higher there. I think would be happy to get $75 for it. I got another one to today I need some advice on also, I'll post it later.
Thanks again.

I have an awesome LBS and when I find a $10 sore like this I take it down there and trade it in. They give me the highest value if I am trading on another bike, second largest if I want store credit for parts, and the least amount if I want cash. I could get more for things if I waited it out on craigslist, but I am impatient and they have cool stuff.

Just recently a buddy and I picked up a midrange $5 Japanese Marukin girls hand made ten speed at a flea market. It was in sad shape, dirty, the front wheel totally fubared. Ten min later we walked into the LBS and he traded it for $35 toward a new bike. I am like, "Don't you want to clean it up first." He just wanted to flip it as fast as possible and everyone was happy. The store had the parts to fix it and flip it to the students in one of the 5 colleges surrounding us. $30 on a $5 investment in less than a hour was pretty cool in any book.

2slow, Look at the mixtes online there some cool mixtes out there.

I bought a mixte at a thrift store for $20 and went through it completly. my daughter was having a garage sale so I throw it out at $200, a ladie rode up on her mixte and ask about mine, rode it and bought it for her daughter. I live in KC MO and there are a lot of people who like this style of bike.

Great info, thanks. I have to keep reminding myself when lookinng at bikes to flip that just because it's not my style does not mean that somebody else won't love it. If that allows me to afford bikes I do love, everybody wins.
