Hit the lake tonight with wifey.

We’re running out of days like this here in Upstate.

A little over 10 miles round trip.

Towards the end of the ride we found a bench and a willow tree and caught the sunset.

I was on my Western Flyer, wifey on her modern Raleigh comfort bike.

Great night

Shhhh. I'm trying to deny it. Nice ride pics, looks like a slice of heaven
Sadly, Onondaga Lake used to be the most polluted lake in the country.

that was back in the ‘70s. Honeywell purchased the company that polluted the lake and got caught holding the bag and had to clean the lake up; which, in my opinion they have.

many locals still don’t use it because of their memories from 50 years ago.

the lake is about a mile from my house and as a family during decent weather, we use it 5-10 times per week. Mostly for exercise, fresh air and clearing our minds, but we fish there on occasion and use the pavilions for social. We do some concerts as well.

it has paved trails around about 3/4 of it. It has a playground, marina and pavilions. Bike rentals, shuffleboard, skate-park, softball fields…. An amphitheater on the other side. -All sorts of stuff.

the backside trail runs through woods that are teaming with wildlife. Geese, swans, ducks, heron, fox, rabbits, squirrels, deer, mink…. All sorts of critters.

part of the lake is adjacent to a small village so there are restaurants, bars and a grocer very nearby.

as stated, many locals still look down their noses at the lake from its past…. And I couldn’t be happier!!!!!!

Beautiful location. I'm glad they cleaned it up for your community. I saw the quad cycle rentals on the lake's site. https://www.visitsyracuse.com/listing/onondaga-lake-park/85/
We have the same type of rentals at some local reclaimed rock quarry lakes. https://www.leegov.com/parks/parks/lakespark
Thanks!!!!

The quad cycles are cool.... you wanna talk about a workout!!!????

I threw my kids out and actually ramped one (slight air time) over by the shuffle board area!!!!

They also have these octopus bike things that looks like a huge round dinner table with pedals..... that thing is a SLED!!!!

I’ll get a few pics on my afternoon ride...

This is the best link for the park:

Living in Valrico, FL for about 15 years, we’ve actually enjoyed a lot of the fresh water locations you referenced!!!!
