last year of skiptooth?

Could someone be so kind as to remind me what the last year Skiptooth sprockets were used by schwinn.

Schwinn supplied inch pitch/skip tooth on the Paramount track bikes as an option until at least 1974.

Great factoid! Was there some theory that it operated with less friction?

No just a macho thing for some trackies. The inch pitch chain, especially the block chains were considered to be much stronger. Many of the larger riders felt they needed that extra strength.

1954 as far as balloon tire bikes go. The 55's have Pantom style 1/2" chainrings, at least in the 55 brochure. -Adam
