I saw this sign on a bike shop about 20 miles from my house. Any idea what it is? The shop was closed so I couldn't go ask myself.

It looks like it might be a cross between a Streamliner and a Deluxe Hornet with a Phantom chainring. Missing the tank. I'd conclude it's a Frankenbike. Also missing someone to take it home and rat it out. Gary

I always thought bikes like this should be saved from their untimely demise. Same with the "bar" bikes.

I think you should go and find another old rusty bike and offer to trade for this one. That one is too nice to be left up there to die.....

Ya gotta love a site where opinions that range from “it’s a shame to see it hanging out in the weather rusting away” to “lets throw rocks at it” can peacefully co-exist.

I’d suggest just don’t throw rocks at the shop owner if he doesn’t want to sell. Presumably it is his bike and property to do with as he likes. It is not the rarest or finest of the herd by any stretch, and there probably isn’t much he could hang out there as advertising to attract more attention to his business. The attention it gathers up there growing a bit more patina day by day may ultimately save more similar bikes than if he polished it, kept it in his living room and rode it a couple times a year.

oh i agree with ya phil, its serving a better purpose as is, especially being a bike shop its hanging at, almost an honorable death i suppose. better than rotting in a ditch or a pond or someones garage or waiting around at the scrap yard.

I did stop the other day. The guy that was working didn't know much about the bike and the shop owner wasn't there. However the shop did have a couple vintage bikes hanging inside also. There were a couple Schwinns and a 1930's Silver King (I think thats what it was). These were in much better shape. My guess is the shop owner knows what he's got.
