So I have been searching for the last month for 1 1/8 inch threadless Schwinn-style Springer forks at a decent price. The only ones available are from Sunlite, and their website is under reconstruction. Only a few places carry them, and they have the nerve to charge $60 or more plus shipping and tax when the same ones with threaded steerer tubes run $30-$40.
My LBS (Bernie's Bikes in OB) doesn't carry them, but said they would check with their Sunlite rep the next time they see them. Well, it looks like I can get the same forks from them for $40 plus tax and no shipping charge. They will be here in two days.
Yet another reason to support your LBS!!

Our LBS (Tom Sawyer's) is awesome! Alan the owner is Rat friendly and supports the local bike scene and events. I went tonight and picked up a box of 75 stainless spokes and nipples.... this was after he calculated my spoke length on his computer, a couple of cotters for a 3 piece crank, and he even hooked me up with a set of bearings to replace the crunchy ones in the bottom bracket of my Indian bike. Of course I didnt have the proper tool to take it apart, No problem... he zipped it apart right on the spot! then measured to make sure I got the right size bearings. Out the door for less than $50 WOW   8) 8)

Its getting to the point that I dont even search the internet for stuff anymore, I just go see Alan at Tom Sawyer's.

Alan is a great guy and has a nice shop. He also has some nice bikes. Heres my favorite one of his.
