Locking Fork Question

I was just curious when locking forks came out and when they stopped making them, or did they ?

Schwinns first locking fork was around 1936, give or take a couple of years. The last year they were offered was around 1955. Many other companies made locking forks as well. Gary

Thanks Gary, the reason I was asking is I had a neighbor stop by and ask me if I would be interested in a bike with a locking fork on it, he seemed to think it was from the seventies.
