Went out today and looked at a large lot of bikes at a scrap yard today and asked the guy what he wanted for them all and he said shoot me an offer, grrrr I hate when someone wont give you a price for something because I would rather not insult them with a low ball offer. I want them all but have to get them at a price that is easy on my wallet since most that can be salvaged are going to be flipped.

any ideas on how much i should offer the guy

buy them by the pound, that's how he buys them, and that's how he sells them, unless someone like you comes along.

BTW: to a scrap yard, that is "contaminated" metal. In other words, if it were all steel and nothing else, the per pound value would be much greater to him. as it is, there are all kinds of metals and materials in that heap.

good luck with your purchase!

Good idea hadnt thought about the "contaminated" metal angle

after you strip them down for parts, throw all of the steel parts together that you don't want, and take them back and sell them back to him as clean steel.

Hes more of just a scrapper with a private scrap yard, he dont pay anything for what he gets, I have made a deal with a public scrap yard to buy complete bikes from, at a set price per complete bike and a bundle price for all the incomplete bikes. all my extra frames will go in my basement for now. when i do have bent or busted stuff ill just haul it over to the recycling center my self

Good deal! Looks like you have the parts bonanza. I imagine we'll be seeing your posts in the For Sale section real soon. Gary

Don't be shy about low balling him. You are not going to hurt his feelings, all he can do is say no, and you can start from there. He could have given you a price, but he chose not to.
