I've had 99% easy dealings with great people on this forum for the 3 years I've been here. I've had a couple deals fall through too. It happens. So a new member is nice enough to offer me a part I'm looking for. Asking a little high for it, but also has another part I need, also a little high. I don't have that kind of fundage till payday, so I ask him if he can wait. At first he says sure. Then, the next morning, I get:

"wll i guess u dont want the front hub and excel calliper ok that is finr thank u any way
see u bye bye"

Grammar aside, that came out of left field. So I told him I didn't know where that came from and that I indeed wanted the parts. He says "ok". And wouldn't you know it, a friend who I've done lots of business with rogers up with the parts and we work out a trade. So I tell the member that my friend is helping me out, thanks anyway. And I get this.

"well good and i wont be selling u any thing else so long bye bye and if i have somethung for sale u wont u wont get it never nothing f4rom me thank u any have a nice day"

And to top it all off, I get negative feedback for a transaction that never happened, with this explanation:

ha ha that is it o well well

I don't even really know what that means. o_O Have I just been lucky till this point? Or did I cause this indignant reaction, and I'm just not seeing it?

Ridiculous. Regardless of the poor personality & grammar,I don't think anyone should be allowed to leave negative feedback for a deal that didn't happen. If that was the case, I could leave about 20+ negative feedback's (for other folks)!
I feel for ya' Crash.

P.s.- Always had good deals and communication with you. And I looked for your wanted parts. All I could come up with is an Excell Raceur...

Don't get too bummed about it. He's a new member and imagine what might have happened if you did in fact send money for the itemso_O

Nah, not you! (post edited) Deals fall through all the time. You can't fault anyone for that!
And good, I saw the feedback was already amended.

On me??? :p

I'm sure Steve will take care of the feedback for the transaction that never happened. It was all just so... shocking. He seemed to get really upset for no logical reason in my mind.

Talk about induced drama... Is this RRB or the Housewives of Garage Bikes? I got this e-mail.

"u f*****g people on rat rod are all the same a bunch of babbies kids just like it was a long time ago when i belonged to it i am never comming back there again and the rat rod owner is an ***hole riding with the loard ha ha he wears a faded colth o oh welel sorry things went the way they did old marine here thank u for your service mine was 1959----1963 by kids"

That was well written and articulate. I am not sure exactly what he was saying, but I am left with just one response.

Now I remember this guy. :21:

When I read the notes he was sending you before I thought that gibberish seemed familiar.

We banned him a few years ago and he had people emailing us for months trying to get him back on the forum.

Of course, as you can imagine, it was all our fault back then, especially me, the crusader.

wow that's too funny. Talk about the poster child of a keyboard gangster. Funny thing with these kind of guys is they have nothing to say if you ever get em in person.
Wrong !!!!!!! You may be surprised ! Glass house, stones ?

I'm sitting here, thinking of all the many deals that never happened on here, and just how that would effect my feedback and the feedback of all the other members....

I guess I owe most everyone a bunch of negatives for all the deals that hadn't occurred. o well well see u byebye and thunks have a nice day, babbies!

This thread has me thinking too...Is it cool to quote PMs like posted above ? If it really is there is potential for some embarassing moments for all the folks that have wasted my time . Maybe a thread just for time wasting flakes ?

Y'know what? Yeah, i think it's OK (ok from a social point of view; if it contradicts any of RRB's policies, I think Steve will chime in and let us know) to post content from PMs, if you keep the other party's identity anonymous. In this thread, Crash didn't mention exactly which former member he was quoting; he simply told us the story. I'm sure Sherlock Holmes type ppl could probably dig deeper and figure out who it was, but most of us are going to just leave it where it is: a funny story and a cautionary tale that, as awesome as the RRB community is, we still do have a few ppl with some "challenges".

I think the idea of a "time-waster" thread is funny, but I think it'd probably be abused in short order, where someone would post rants/complaints about other members over some really minor issues...

I think that what this thread and Crash's experiences with this guy kind of underscores is, asking some questions re: an item's condition, specs, and shipping estimates is not a binding contract to buy. Transactions take some time and effort from both parties; if we're trying to sell stuff, we might have to expect to spend some time answering questions posed by folks who may, ultimately, not end up buying from us.

My opinion, Disputes are best settled in private. Communications via the Internet dont' always end up how you would like and often both sides have valid reasons. If you need some help, generally the mods or Rat Rod can help diffuse/mediate the situation.

...and if this guy does have some mental problems, I dont' think public ridicule will make him feel any better.

I know all about selling, when I say time waster I mean it . Time waster in my book is when I have a package ready to go and I never get paid or hear from the person again. Or a person that has me hold an item with a BS sob story about how christmas is for the kids and they will pay right after the holidays, only to never answer another PM when it time to pay. I could go on and on,but why bother. Lots of BS artists in this world.
Haha dale is talking about me. Wow really you're gonna say this. Sorry dude I didn't feel like paying $80-$115 just to ship a frame. On top of that I can easily post our message where I told u if u can sell it then sell it. Don't degrade me on here cause there's a ton of people that will disagree with you. My exact words were if u can sell it then sell it and if you can't then I'd figure it out. That was nearly a year ago on top of that. Haha so petty.so go ahead and say what you're saying like I said I can easily post our messages proving what I said. Haha keyboard banger. I bang in real life not behind a keyboard. Good talking to ya buddy :)

As can be seen from above.....most problems are caused by time.

Don't sell something if the buyer can't purchase right away and don't buy something if you can't send money immediately. Faults are usually on both sides.

I see that and usually follow that. I didn't go into the discussion knowing I couldn't pay, but I wasn't expecting the prices that he wanted so had to ask for a push. Usually people are a little more... reasonable... with their prices.
