metalcast paint

Heres a pic of a frame painted with duplicolor chrome and blue duplicolor metalcast

Looks awesome! It also adds a cool effect when sprayed over flat black. I did it with the Krylon X-Metals red paint and it came out like a cherry root beer color, very subtle but nice. It didn't look as good till I added clearcoat.

After clear from a distance it looks black

But in the direct sunlight or close up it has hints of cherry.

Done this frame with krylon chrome base and xmetal blue top coat.

I would recommend a automotive clearcoat to protect it though, as I have found this line of paints to be quite fragile and prone to chipping easily.

Where are you guys finding xmetal paint? I know even Walmart used to have it but I'm having issues finding it wanting a couple cans of the green for a future project.

The can of Xmetal I used was a can my son got years ago and held onto till now. did see where you could order it online

Looks like web shopping is the answer; last time I ordered paint online the cans didn't work so I'm a bit skeptical.

Most auto parts stores carry it. Some have better selection than others

I'll dig around a bit more but I frequently am at auto stores and don't recall ever seeing xmetal paints.

orielys ,look on line for all the major auto stores,get the part number and call the store to see if they have it,parts plus,advance,all have it,there is metal cast which is like candy and metal speck that is like metal flake,cast is 8.49 a can and flake is about $10.00,3 colors,

I've seen the metal cast but they don't have green.
I'll check O'Riley's, autozone and advanced auto sites then call thanks for the idea

there is also some copper and smoke tint that is made by duplicolor,its supposed to be used over chrome but your only limited by your imaginacine,dublicolor also sells a number of premixed hot colors if you have a spray gun,all these paints have free howto vidios on the internet

I have a paint gun but my landlord won't let me use it in or out of the garage but gave the ok on rattle cans

Found out XMetals is discontinued.
If you find it in a store I'd grab it.
