Cool frame, I don't think I've seen one quite like it. I tried your WD40 and brass brush technique on a Murray jet fire I'm working on. That works great! I wish I had known about that years ago. Thanks!

years ago a boss told me "give the hardest job to the laziest person and he will figure out the easiest way to do it"

A Schwinn purest that I work with told me to use the finest steal wool I could buy and WD40 but, that puts ultra fine scratches in the chrome and dulls it a bit. Your method works much better.

Spray chrome with wd then wool?

wd40 and a brass brush
or brass wool will work too
the brass is softer than the chrome but harder than the rust

Yeah, Steel wool and WD40. Don't do it! Hooches method works faster and doesn't hurt the chrome.

Oh, ive done that for a long time, ever since i started cleaning bikes

hmmmmmm...........never had a problem with steel wool leaving scratches(i swear by it although i do use #0000) never had a problem with the brass brush either

Try bronze wool. no scratches.
