Body work continues bit by bit with a goal of this Saturday for completion.

A small detail that has been bugging me: from the factory, the drilled the mounting holes for the guard mount off center. Me no like. My OCD wouldn’t allow me to look at bolt heads hanging off to the side. That’s insane.

So I found some scrap of the correct size in stainless, and I cut it up, had it bent in the Press Brake…

then drilled and tapped for 1/4x20, which is what 98% of all the Rail mounts I’ve dealt with have been. (This one is smaller, so… it’s weird)

I used stainless so it wouldn’t crack in the press brake (because I only had CRS or Stainless, no Mild). Regardless. For this build it will be painted to match the frames. I prefer that look over the zinc plating they used originally.

I made some extras, so I’m going to polish them and offer them up.

Picked up everything from the painter today. It’s hard to tell in the pic I think, but both the black and the grey have some nice metal flake that pops in the sun.

And here’s a cool. Detail I couldn’t see before… in the sun you can see a shadow of the car that he painted. It’s just slightly blacker than the other paint. And he painted his signature in that shadow!

You saw the wing I bought a few pages back. So I came up with a plan. I fabricated some upright mounts using parts of the original mounts from the kit, glueing them to 4” lexan sticks of the same thickness I cut at work.

Shot them with black when the bike got painted. And now…
