well i figured i would share this with my fellow rrber's for no reason whatsoever other then just random talking and discussion.
i was out cruising my beloved 56 Schwinn rat (happens to be one of my favorite rides since i sold it and bought it back cuz i missed it)
i was kinda steamed about my genesis quitting and all my bikes seeming to quit on me so i figured why not enjoy the road with my baby.
great idea right, nice cool night,no clouds stars shining thru and im full of energy. not to mention i haven't ridden this bike much and she needed to have her feet stretched.
sounds like fun right?
well, that, my fellow rrbers is where i made the fatal error of thinking i might be able to enjoy something lol
as i was cruising around, i decided to go down this side street i have not been down often.
i now know why i don't travel it it is a dark and poorly lit road and vision is poor at best. even with my light on and a added flashlight.
so long story short as i got about i'd say 1/4 mile down the road out of nowhere this deranged cat comes running from a barn and darts right in front of me.
now me being an animal lover i refuse to hurt any kind of animal, i lock the coaster brake and go into a skid.
bam! there i go skidding out of control right into a parked tractor(yes a tractor someone actually parked a tractor on a street!!! gotta love good ol Nebraska farmland lol)
i hit the tractor head on, fly over the handlebars and into the rear tire of said tractor.
so after a few beep beep moments and a few more choice words, i get up brush off the dirt and shake off the pain and embarrassment (ever see a 450 lb man barrel rolling in the street? yeah, funny to watch from a bystanders perspective lol O) i get up and continue to my beloved bike.
as i pull her from the tractors clutches i soon realize the damage is minor, but enough to put her out of commission.
so with that being said here is my beloved Schwinn damaged bondo job and all lol.
and yes in case i forgot to mention it i will be needing a new fender so if anyone has a fender and a brace for a 24 inch bicycle, i just might be interested will posted in the wanted section as soon as my budget allows me to do so.
enjoy and don't feel bad bout laughing i sure as heck didn't lol
feel free to share any stories you may have as well all we can do in situations like this is laugh right? even though were crying on the inside lol.
sadly my baby took the abuse as i was not injured other then humiliated and embarrassed. no cats were hurt during this stunt either but a pig(bike,in sorts) took some damage lol
excuse my messy house my cat likes to knock stuff over and i just wasn't having it after this lol
fender brace got lodged into the wheel the wheel is fine but the tires flat so i am sure i punctured the tire somewhere
yup tore it right off the brace
destroyed my perfectly good bondo job lol
fender may be a lil bent
gonna see if i can tear into her and see just how intense the damage is but as of now it looks to be just the fender and some alignment needing done to the bars.
more updates soon but i plan on rebuilding her and actually getting a front fork that fits her as these ones are kinda too short which may have contributed to my loss of control but unsure as they seemed fine before this.
