MN Classic/Antique Fall Ride: Ep3 The winner is...

What a Great Ride and Nice Bunch of People!
This is Episode 1 because we all got so many great pics
Hopefully other people there will add theirs
I'm starting off with a group shot of the Twin Cities Chapter of RatRodBikes!
So cool that we now have a large group of us contributing to the fall ride

Left to right: Thirstee, RustyK, Chromer, Fat Willy and his Son, MplsCoaster, FIL,
Nickinator's Mom, Nickinator, (and sorry I don't remember last one )
We missed Bogmonster and his family and 2WheelGoods and his son (with his 4 star Higgins)

It was picture perfect weather and about 48 people showed up
My gang was my Wife, FIL, Step son, his Girlfriend and her "Little Guy"

So many cool bikes so I let the bikes talk for themselves

Let the Ride begin! Started at Boom Island along the Mississippi River in Minneapolis

I think this guy's story was it was his bike he since high school

FIL did pretty good, he follows well but seemed to get bored some of the time :|

IIFIFM: Lots of people thought it that great FIL was riding at 80 years old (Bday 22nd)

Sure like your CWC! My Wife and me both liked the blue/white checked seat on your Wife's bike

Alright, the Stone Arch Bridge is one of the oldest curved stone arch bridge in the country
Originally a railroad bridge, now only people and bikes It's about 75 feet off the Mississippi

So we all parked our bikes and checked out each others stuff. Great light and views up there
hope I won't bore you with the massive amount of pics :lol:

The guy was great and volunteers as mobile bike mech for the twin cites bike tour 8)

Beautiful hex tube Monarch, cast aluminum is just so cool

RustyK's bike was too cool, first time I've seen it :shock: 8)

Massive radio on this bike providing some music, awesome!

Picture perfect

Everything was just "right' about this bike

Fat Willy's El Camino

Solid tire Pope (I think) and it was ridden!!

Jacked Up Pilot in front of Hennepin Falls

And of course the people

It was cool to show him what I did with the Spaceliner I bought from him

Thirstee and his Wife on his CWC and her Corvette

My Wife and her Dad (FIL :lol: )

Okay, the big race, so Fat Willy's Son challenges Little Guy to a race
First it was all the way to the end of the bridge
then damped a bit by the grown ups to 3 light poles down. And there off!

They were really booking full tilt!! Little guys was yanking on the handle bars to go faster

Little Guy got carried away and forgot to count, FW's Son tried to yell for him
then turned around and booked back

Little Guy was tuckered out as he "Flintstoned" into the finish line!

Pretty cool to see 2 young kids racing on a 75 foot high bridge and having a blast

Then Onward Into the Wild Blue Yonder

End of episode 2. Next episode, ride back and best bike contest...

There are plenty of ugly bikes but I try not to snap too many :lol:

I'll finally finish with the final episode of last week's ride:
So we left the SA bridge and headed back to Boom Island ("boom" to the Paddle boats)
(I'm going to cheat with some from FIL's thread :wink: )
We stopped after an uphill to get some water and get the tandems rear chain back on

Went by the old Grain Belt Brewery
(now owned and very coolly restored by an architectural firm)

Lined up the bikes for the contest
You guys would have laughed seeing me trying to put kickstands on that morning :lol:
Ended up with flower pots :roll:

FIL got bored but perked up when I asked him which bike he liked the best to vote for
He pointed to his own bike and he said that one

The excitement was getting higher and FW's son was running around :lol:

The announcements starts and he names the runners up as the Pope and big radio bike

AND THE WINNER IS NICKINATOR AND HIS ELGIN BLUEBIRD!!!

Congrats Nick!! Nice job!

I overheard from behind me an long timer say,
"I'm sure glad to see the next generations carrying on the tradition"
I know the main group's tastes runs with restored and antiques but I think we passed the test

TC RBBs have another ride almost scheduled and the Andover swap meet coming up
