I have decided to replace the ND Model A hub on my 1934 Rollfast with a more period correct hub. I need to decide between a ND Model D or a Musselman hub. I have ridden several Mod Ds and am happy with their performance. I have not ridden any Musselman (same hubs as Elgin/Higgins finned hubs) equipped bikes.

What are some opinions of the two hubs when compared?

FWIW - I built wheels recently with a real nice ND and a real rough Musselman. The Musselman was the far better coaster. The ND was the moderately better stopper. I'll trade my ND's for your Musslemans all day long. :D

I think it depends on the hub too. I stuck that bendix on my build. Its got something grinding inside. Gonna take it apart and if its toast , relace either the ND or the Morrow to mine.

I will second that...Musselmans are a lot easier to rebuild as well.
