So I'm gonna do my first build thread on here. Hopefully the pics work cause I'm doing this all from my phone. I think I figured out how to copy links from my photobucket app. So here we go.

I picked this Monark up during the summer while working. I sell and repair wheel chairs and other medical equipment so I drive all over northern IL.
What I'm starting with. I was messing around and used some checkered duct tape on the frame.

Test fitting a OCC 16" fork. Need to figure out how to tie the top bracket to the steer tube still, or shorten the head tube.

Jake Sensi would be so freaking proud!!!!

I love this look!!!!

You should name it Cheap Trick or Dream Police!

Git to buildin, Peace!

So sweet, it worked.

Monday I won some rims and Brown Fat Franks on eBay. They were setting on my stoop when I got home. Got em fitted up right away.

Not sure where the rest of the build will go yet. Have to re-weld the seat tube to the bb. Don't like the bars so I may open up a hole to use a std neck on it? Paint color, first thoughts are orange, or black.

Seat I believe is original, its single pan so I'd have to get creative recovering it, or just paint. Maybe rivet the fabric around the edge, would give a industrial look also. I have other seats but I like this one. Thinking drag bars like on a motercikle. And a bobbed rear fender.

This may take a while to get together, moneys tight, the wheels/tires are my Xmas present just early. Gotta see what else I need and see if I can work some trades for what I need.

Oh yeah need cranks these are fubar'd. Hopefully I can re-use the sprocket.

And who's Jake Sensi? Lol

This is why it sucks that Jake only comes out to play during the build off! Jake is the resident Build Off cheerleader for the past couple of BO's. His catch phrase is "Git to Buildin', Peace"
Just look thorugh any of the build threads for BO6 or BO7 and you will see his commentary.

Anyway, he played around with covering a banana seat with the new patterned duct tapes this past build off. Hopefully you will participate in BO8 and you will experience Jakeness.

Oh yeah, view from the front. Barely clears the bottom fork bracket! May clearance it. You can hear it rub a tiny bit, but it doesn't slow it down.

I think you found the perfect wheel tire combo for that Cheap Trick frame. The orange rims match great with the brown.
Definitely need some different bars.
I like the patina on your chainguard, but maybe you can just paint part of it to match the orange rims.
Leave the seat pan metal and paint it (with orange or orange highlights). I have been riding around for a few months now on the seat pan I painted for Flexy and it is more comfy than you would think.

I REALLY like this build!!
BRAVO!!

Thanks for the props already. Got a way to go. I've rode this seat and my Columbia's seat also is bare, and is comfortable. So I don't mind painting it, was thinking brown to compliment the tires. Also not set on the checkered tape, its rat but I'm not sold on it yet. Maybe if I did a real nice job on it. Seriously thinking orange for the frame and currently white fork parts. The chain guard is only like that cause I ran out of tape. lol

My list of parts needed so far ( to help me keep track ).

Rear fender - ( may use one I have )

Bars - not sure what type yet

crank

pedals

head light

tail light ?

You get the Jakes thumbs up on that idea bud! I want you to Rat me would be a good name too! Lovin' those Franks and the rest of the bike so ...Get Ta Buildin'!! Peace

Spent some time trying some of the bars I have on it to see if I could find one I like. Definitely needs chrome bars. Really want to see some chrome mountain bike bars. I like the look of flipped bars, but have to many back problems to seriously think of riding with them. And not a huge ape fan.

The original Occ bars

Some goofy bars I got off a Schwinn that someone had put on.
