I got a free bike and wanted to modify it and make the frame the main focus. Took off the der boss's and the brake boss's. I felt this brings more attention to the rear triangle a cleaner look to the frame. Spray paint was soon to follow. And while I was at it who needs der's anyways. Single speed it the ultimate goal but for now it is a pictured. So the best way to brake on this machine is a foot in the back tire. There is a front brake set up, you pull the cable on the top tube. Nothing up front but the bars and grips.
Let me know what you all think this is my first post.

Thanks Drew!

Re: Project MTB Trek 4300 2009

Going to have more fun with this thread and you know this whole bike modifying project.
Added a Sticker to the frame. It matches the color scheme.
Moved computer to the seat post and the sensor to the back wheel
I think it looks good. Had to add some magnets to the wheel that stick out longer, and it worked!
Fun with images time. :)

Re: Project MTB Trek 4300 2009

That last pic...looks like it came that way. Well balanced. That frame is massive. What's it made out of? Gary

Re: Project MTB Trek 4300 2009

"Alpha Black Aluminum w/externally relieved head tube, hydro formed bi-axial down tube, monostay seat stays, forged disc ready dropouts"

This is what the trek website said its made from...
The pic with all white background is also from the trek website. I realized i never posted a stock photo. Probably shouldn't be the last photo.
