my 25 dollar monarch

i just picked up this monarch spartan ( this is the sellers ad photo ) for a cool 25 bucks

i think i,m just going to spray it with rust neutralizer , then clean it down with thinner , and then just clear coat it .
i,ll probably take the fenders off and swap out the rims and handle bars ( same but with 1/2 decent chrome ) and put some fresh rubber on . then ride like the wind .
the fenders are pretty much garbage , i might use them to cut down some mini fenders out of .

ya free would be even better , and ( even better than free would be , if someone else paid for the gas for the 3 hour round trip i did to pick it up ) haaa , ok now i,m pushin it .

its hard to find a bike in the garbage here . theres an earlybird with a pickup that drives around all the garbage routes pickin these worms , and sellin them off to the scrap metal yard .
i,ve seen lots of good pickins ( not just bikes ) that i missed out on by 5 minutes cause of this guy , just becuase i had to go home first and take a seat out of the van .

( garbage pickin note ) NOW , i leave both seats out , and go home to put the seats in , if i need them .

WELL , im gonna make some toast , have a coffee , and then go to Canadian Tire to grab a set of tubes and cheap tires .
i,ll have this puppy running by this afternoon . ( i put some liquid wrench oil on all the screws last night ) so it should be ready to go when i get back with the rubber .

Rob , i found it on kijiji toronto , a bit of a haul from Kitchener but i wasn,t doin anything anyways .

Floyd , yeah its really light , i was actually really surprised how light it is .

i got it all running , new rubber , my old Hawthorne rims , seat and bars . i did the ( clear coat over the crappy finish thing )
I DON,T REALLY LIKE THE WAY THAT LOOKS . I am going to redo it school bus yellow sometime soon . but for now , i,ll deal .

i picked this one up for my wet weather bike , i put the exact same tires on as my ( NAUGAHYDE bike in the bike builds section )
and i switched out the rear sprocket for a 21 tooth ( the bike is so light its totally effortless to pedal ) its a pretty sweet riding bike .

its too dark out now , i,ll get some picks tomorrow and post them in the builds section .
