I couldn't believe it - I was the first one to call. Actually I was the only one that ever called on this CL listing. It was 1 1/2 hours away and he offered to drop it off next week when he was down this way but I said "I'm on my way" - didn't want to take any chances of losing it. I've been wanting a saddle like this for quite awhile but they are usually a little pricey. I definitely see some parts that don't belong but that's what having a bike as a kid is all about. I got the feeling this may have been a hand me down bike because of the different colors I found looking for the serial number - red, gold, lavender(? a girl maybe?) and green. The bracket added on right in front of the brake arm strap has me puzzled. I'm thinking kick stand support - maybe homemade. I got up at 5:30 and it was a nice relaxing drive through the country on 2 lane roads. My first road trip in quite awhile.

Neat! That might be a 1936 CWC frame with that serial #, I've been taking notes on Phil's number decoding! I know it's the earlier version, later ones have the bars spaced further apart to fit a tank. -Adam

That is some crazy patina created by the sandpaper. I'll bet you could repeat that over the whole bike and create something non repeatable using the paint that's already there!

Just a thought.

If the wheels are original then dated between '34 and '39. and based on the frame style and A serial, I am betting '34. Nice find! Looks like someone converted to 1/2" pitch with a later model Schwinn crankset. Probably couldn't find a Skip chain or just plain used what they had.
