1961 Schwinn American RatRod, this is the only true rat I have. It's a 61 Schwinn frame and chain guard a 50's or 60's AMF fork, and a set of 80's Huffy wheels. All components parts are from a 71 Schwinn heavy Duti, it also has a StarBurst head badge.

The start of a nice collection, I think the DX is my favorite out of all the others...Just can't go wrong with vintage Schwinns:bigboss::whistle::thumbsup:

Thank you for the awesome comment. I actually don't know much about older Schwinn's so I went and did some more research on the bike and it seems I messed up the serial number, the actual serial number is F259093 so it was built in 1948-1949 and I think is was a Schwinn DX-E. But I'm not 100% sure so if you would back up my research with some of your own knowledge that would be awesome. :D

I believe that is a model D97X with optional truss rods and chrome wheels if in fact all the parts are original to that bike. Generally the "E" would be on deluxe models like the DB97XE but that used a straight bar/ Autocycle frame in that era and came fully equipped with tank and light. Personally I wouldn't care what it was and just ride the snot out of it...Enjoy !
