Shapliegh is a Westfield badge, and the bike has a Westfield 'coffin' chainring. It may have the unusual flared joint where the second bar meets the seat tube. It should have a Westfield serial # starting with a letter. A-5429 was the first 1936 #, going alphabetically through each year until 1941, which sarted in the F's and ended in the G's. Your bike is a 37 at the latest, so if it's older than 36 it may have a different number. Nice score though, also digging the Racer and the murray! -Adam

Thanks for the info, I will look for the number when I get it down to clean up and it does have a strange flare on the seat tube. The spokes seem too rusty to even think about ever trying to use it. it will be cleaned and hung in a special place in the garage. The racer rides really nice right now. I still need to repack everything and go over it with a wet wipe. The murray needs some work and front piece for the tank. I will look for it when the time comes. My wife has no interest in the rollfast, it may become a parts bike or sold as is locally. It has a lot if nice interesting parts.

How did I miss that Shapleigh? i'm guessing that wasn't from craigslist.

I almost got that x63 last october (it was in larkspur right?). Nice bikes =)

Yes, they were in Larkspur. The Shapleigh, Murray, Schwinn and Rollfast all came from one guy, I traded some toy trains I was getting rid of for the bunch. Traded my Yamaha Zuma that I crashed for the Motobecane, paid $100 for the Alpine.
