I am completely new to the site and need a little help or advice. I've got this Sears Spaceliner, it's in great shape, my husband got the front tank horn and light working, but I am not quite sure about the rear carrier. It's either missing a light or reflector. I can't find a picture of my bike anywhere to see what it's missing. If someone has a picture of the same exact bike, I would love to see a picture of it. I believe the style front tank is called a style 7. I just haven't seen a rear carrier/tank thingy that is chrome with a teal stripe down the middle of it.
Also, if anyone knows...how much is this bike approximately worth? I have no idea. I bought this bike for $35 from a friend of mine 6 years ago. I haven't had to do anything to it, except for search for the rear light/reflector thing.
Thanks so much!!
Jennifer from MI!!

Haven't seen a rack like that on a Spaceliner....as for value, if you have the tank with the headlight lens and everything works okay, you did okay on your $35

Ya find whatever is missing on that rear rack and keep riding that thing! Polish it once in a great while and be happy with the very few $35 you paid for it, WELL worth it.

that rack is new to me too, i know that there was a strobe light on some models/years, but ive never actually seen the light on a rack before. i'll see if i can dig up some pics.

heres a different version of the same bike, it has the dome shaped strobe light in the rack that i believe yours is missing. i think i remember yeshoney had one for sale a longgggg time ago ago, but i never knew what it went to exactly.

Welcome. Nice bike.
I've got a spaceliner type bike with a rack that's missing the 360 dome light but there is just a round hole in the rack where the light was.

There's an ad for the light and pic of my lightless rack here

looks like randy is right on the cup holder ... err dome light  , i did find and ad for your bikes style rack though (i think) most of what im finding is labeled as either 65 or 66 spaceliner "deluxe" bikes

Welcome to the forum! That's a great looking bike! I'd expect that to bring $150 on ebay with the tank. As far as the year, ther should be numbers stamped on the frame above the rear axle, on the brake arm side. Ordinarily, it should read "MOD 502, then a 5 digit#, likely in the 45-47000 range. Usually I can year date it from that. There's a sequential serial number after that, but it doesn't matter as far as a date. -Adam

So this is what I used to achieve such a great shine (kinda helped that it was crazy sunny that day; ) ). Of course, I used a lot of elbow grease until I found that Mother's Power Cone. I just attached it to my drill, put the Mother's polish on it and moved that thing all along the bike (rims and all -- not on the spokes though -- tried it and the cone almost got shredded).think what I'm going to use on the spokes is a good ole green Scotch Brite pad. That should shine the spokes up. Now there was a little rust on the bike and this may sound weird, but I used an emery board to remove the little specks of rust on the chrome. I did notice that some of the chrome is (I think) powder-coated, so I did not use the emery board on that part because it would cause the coating to flake off. On the areas that were powder-coated, I used the Eagle One Nevr-Dull wadding polish. That stuff was great! I got right into the divets and cleaned it up.
I hope that helped.
Oooh, one more thing...believe it or not, but I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean the seat and the white handlebar covers. Worked amazing! The seat and handlebar covers are original and look brand new now.

Here is a picture of the rear axle with the date code/serial number. Thanks so much for your help!!! Totally appreciated!
The 64-5 girls' single speed Spaceliner is # 46911, so 469121 is very close, they usually have an extra 0 or 1 at the end. -Adam

While the step-thru "girl's" models are less sought after, being that clean and complete could be worth at least $100.00 or so. 8)

That is a great for $35 especially since you have the tank and springer with it, the bike is as beautiful now as it was when new.
