Ok, check this out. I spot a CL ad last night around midnight. Mind you, it was listed around 1:00pm that afternoon. Pretty darn vauge, but I blast out a quick email to ask about the Schwinn and perhaps a picture. This is a quote of the entire ad:
I have an old unicycle....another old bike which is a Schwinn.....another kids bike...nothing special. Trying to get rid of stuff, I have pictures will send. Just e-mail me.
This morning I got a late start and didn't check my email till I got settled in at work, around 8:00. I got an email from the person about half hour after I sent mine in the wee hours of the morning. It came with this picture attached. She wants to know if I'm interested and what I will offer. I start to hyperventalate.
I tell her I am interested and offer $40 depending on condition. The ad actually says "nothing special" so I didn't wan't to scare her. Of course she is 2 and a half hours away so she doesn't understand why I am willing to drive this far for an old bike. We exchange a few more emails and I get her address and tell her I will be there after work. I waited all day for her to email me and say that somebody offered more, but I guess nobody else bothered to ask about it. I drove up and snagged it tonight!
The bike is actually worse than the photo shows though. The rims are missing huge pieces where they are rotted away. Cables are junk, shifter seized, back of seat and pan damaged, original rattraps gone, etc. I probably could have talked them down more, but I didn't have the heart.
Now in two weeks time I picked up my SECOND '67 Rams Horn.
Yeah, don't forget this one I grabbed in Monson.
I would rather have found Blink's Screamer, but I'm pretty happy tonight!
