need help dating a hawthorne

howdie there folks!!! welp just picked up my first skiptooth bike! and it also happens to be my first bike with a tank!! only problem is, its a betty. but still, its pretty sweet to me. all i know is that its a womens hawthorne 26inch skiptooth. on the chain guard, it has the word harley on it but im not sure that it belongs there. the frame is baby blue colored(under the surface rust) the fenders look to be a darker blue maybe. i have no pics yet, but those will come shortly.

serial number: A395974......found on the left rear dropout.

any help would be greatly appreciated. my guess is..............old, lol

The best way to date a Hawthorne is by the badge. They changed the style every couple years, so you can at least narrow it down to that. And if it has a Morrow coaster brake, it'll have a date code on it. Of course, pics help

well the badge is still on there. but everything is kinda almost faded off. and it has a new departure rear hub.

i looked on the bottom of the badge and it says MONTGOMERY WARD.

Dating a Hawthorne..
Ask her if she wants to go for a bike ride. low cost, low pressure.
The worst she can say is no.
And if she says no, she isn't a bike rider anyways so move on.

got to lookin a little more on the bike today and noticed that the front wheel has a schwinn scripted hub. so i now i dont know if both of the wheels were replacement wheels or what? and i kinda hope that the front wheel isnt an S7 cuz man those tires suck trying to buy new ones cheap. oh well. anybody else got some ideas on a year maybe?
