I need help trying to figure out if Huffy ever had fade paint color schemes for the huffy rail bikes. I have seen original sales literature for the huffy rail with lime green and emerald green fade paint schemes, and with lime yellow and red paint schemes, but have no idea if they ever had a fade paint scheme with the color blue. I know huffy rails came in a bright blue solid paint scheme but am unsure about the fade one. I wish I could ask raleigh ron but every time I try to ask him anything I get so much attitude and he is so rude that I find myself wishing I never bothered with him.

If anyone besides raleigh ron knows the answer please respond.

They also did Red & Yellow, Orange & Yellow Not sure of a Blue& Purple.. Wish I could help you more, but I'm A Murray Guy!..

The 1969 Huffy Catalog shows a Blue/Green Fade...

I have one of the resourse books Mark W makes, and the 1969 Catalog from Huffy listed a Blue/Green fade, but it is crossed out and "Astro Blue" written in. This is only a guess, but I don't think they actually followed through with a Blue fade on any bikes.

My Huffy Rail is a 1971 model. I have the optional 16 inch spring front fork and had planned on painting it blue. Is there any way to know what color is close to or even exact to the original huffy blue they used on the 1971 huffy rail bikes?

There is a seemingly endless sea of paint colors out there and I was just wondering if anyone knew what was closest to the correct original huffy color blue for 1971? I had wanted to paint this bike a nice candy electric bright blue, but I don't want to make it un-sellable if I paint it that color and people want it the correct blue Huffy used on the rail.

So far all my modifications are easy to unbolt and it's easy to return the bike back to stock by simply unbolting things. I did cheat and used a drum brake 5 speed rear wheel with a different than stock rim but it isn't a big deal to obtain and then use a normal huffy 5 speed wheel.

I put huge 1920's mens bicycle seat springs under the original rail seat but all one needs to do is find a similar seat in poor shape but with a good bottom seat pan and then thats back to original too.

Paint though is pretty much something that people don't want to re-do if the paint is in good shape. People are more likely to simply not buy a bike if the paint is nice but they don't like the color, usually because of the expense of repainting it again. A rusty or poor condition paint bike is likely to be bought instead because they won't feel bad repainting it a color they like because the paint was bad to begin with.

If the bike doesn't sell, I eventually will have the bike properly painted professionally and want it done so it is still able to be sold and want people to like the color. I know in the world of hot rods and street rods that people prefer lots of modern updates and changes and out there colors. But in bikes, especially muscle bikes I think people still want things as close to factory as possible, otherwise I'd go with the candy electric blue color.

Hey Guys,
I'm where you were a couple years ago and I'm looking for any information you might be able to give me on the Huffy colors, were any of you able to come up where to get the paint? I also have the Huffy resource catalog and the Shimmering colors I'm looking for are Sea Frost green (antifreeze), Rally Bronze (dark orange), Lemon Frost (yellow), Astro Blue, and Carnaby Red. Any help on where to get them or even the paint codes so I can order them from an auto paint store would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've never seen a huffy fade with blue. I'm restoring a Super Stock that I'm going to do the anti-freeze color as the main, with the burnt orange on either end. I'm also restoring a The Judge 5 (Rail) with burnt orange as the main with red on either end. I went to my auto paint store and just matched the best I could. I think they were originally candy, but I'm painting in pearl because fading a candy is too advanced for me.
