I have a set of wheels I would like to restore. They are a little rust crusty and would like to know the best way to restore them. They will be going on my '52 Monark Firestone.

For me, the "best way" to do them would be to strip the hubs out, get them bead blasted and then paint them. Or maybe even better would be powder coating. New spokes and rebuilt hubs and you're on your way. Gary

What was the original finish on the rims? If it was paint, or if it was chrome but the chrome is really knackered, then Gary gives some excellent advice. If they are chrome and they just have some surface peppering, it may make sense to dip them in an oxalic acid solution and try to get the shine back...

pics would help... what standard, function and appearance, are you trying to achieve?
