Columbia for sure. The particular dropouts and rear triangle are the giveaways :D I think they began using that style frame in the very late fities and that it became more popular in the early sixties.

I don't know exactly what year they started producing "canti" style frames, but I do know that within a few years, in the early '60's, that type of kick stand bracket was discontinued, along w/the straight bar tank bikes. While there wasn't that many years of production exactly like that, they're pretty good, so a fair number of them are still around. There's also a pretty good chance it was labeled as a hardware store, tire maker, or department store brand. I like them a lot! 8)

Schwinn came out with the cantilever frame in '37 I think. Most patents are good for 17yrs. so by '55 or thereabouts copying that frame was fair game for anyone. Gary

Rustinkerer, Is that the original chain guard?
Yes, I masked off the original "Sterling" name when I painted it. It was a major rust bucket! I think it's a mid 60s, the chain guard is basically flat. The earlier ones had kind of a fin on them Also I have a 62 w/a Good Year Hiway patrol badge. ~Adam
