Last night I picked up a nice 24 inch Western Flyer Balloon tire bike for the tires and rims. Turns out the bike was much too nice to part out, and it fits my 5"1" wife perfectly. The serial number is A41925. Anyone know what year it might be. She's happy and so am I. Sorry no pictures yet.

Without pics to know who made the bike for Western Auto it is hard to say for sure. I referenced my charts and if it is a Cleveland Welding built bike the serial number dates it as a '42-'43. War time bikes are rare and are usually stripped down, bare bones bikes since most material was going toward the war effort. To even buy a bike during the war one would need to prove that you needed a bike to get to work and then you would get a special certificate.

Hey Cameron,
Can you post a full size pic of that certificate? People did without lots of stuff during WW2. What was really amazing is that virtually everyone was working and people had money but couldn't even buy a gallon of gas without a gov't coupon. People today wouldn't be able to handle rationing if it ever returned. We're lucky now. Gary

I pulled that off of the internet and that is as big as I could find. I will hunt a bit more and see what I can come up with.
