No, this is a perfect bike for it! Those are only valueable with nice original paint, and fully loaded w/tank, racks, etc. I'd go w/a Gasser look! -Adam

They way I remember it, "modding" anything other than a spider bike back then consisted mostly of adding stuff, like lights, mirrors, racks/baskets, "polishers", or yanking "goofy" sheet metal. Occasionally someone might add gears or paint. Unless of course, you consider melding a couple of broken junkers to make something that worked to be a "mod". Oh, yeah! Adding a hollow plastic "motor" with little battery operated drums inside. (Poor boy version, clothespin and playing card. )

what is a "polisher"? ? and im adding pbr bottle caps to the spokes for .... idk it made me think of the 60s ?

My BF Goodrich Challenger had baskets but I opted to remove them...took up too much garage space. :?

It's a little strap of leather with a weighted reflector that hangs on the hub and moves the dirt around.

i dig your beer runner! just picked on up for a ladyfriend any one know anything about the roll fast bikes ? ill have pictures soon hopefuly !
and does anyone have some matching friction lights ? i want to run at least 2 or more ! thanks !

I used the same frame in the buildoff. Yours has the later sprocket on it, maybe 1965, all made in Arkansas by AMF Roadmaster. Like mentioned above, a dime a dozen unless it's in good original condition. I call the polishers "hub shiners". They were common on bikes in the 60's, mine are plastic strips with a reflector for weight, but if I were to make some, leather strips would be perfect. An old purse at a thrift store would provide real leather in different colors for a dollar or two. Reflectors might be harder to find, maybe beer caps could be used. I've also seen a lot of beercruisers with bottle openers attached somewhere.

So, anything you did to it would be cool.

im going to cut one down and use both ends and make two and take out the middle part so they will stay short thats my plan atleast maby use the middle to make a head badge if it works ! ! !

Worked for me, and the purse became a tool bag! I found the reflectors at my local LBS for a buck. 8)
