Well I got busy today and stretched a Western Flyer frame, that Rat Rod gave me. I think it turned out pretty good. I stretched it 6 1/2 inches. I tried more ,but it started to look funny. This one will be off to Mexico for the production friday night. Now that they understand what I want, maybe the actual production of the frames will be shorter than the Colson Clone. Sorry this one wont handle 26x3's . So tell me what you think.

I told you I could fix it. It only took a couple hours to grind off all the welding boogers, and then I said hey this could be my next clone. I get bored really easy.

I like this one too. At the right price I think these will fly out the door. What style of Dropouts are you doing. Like on that bike or a rear facing track/bmx dropout?

that looks great! So, how do you hook up this deal with mexico? do you just drive across the border and ask, "who wants to build bikes?" and if they say yes, how do you deal with the import/export issuses?
I guess that is one of the many benefits of living in Texas. In addition to being able to feel your hands and face after a bike ride in February.

I think on this one I'm going to go with just like it is. The bmx style out the back was an after thought . I made it so wide and i figured someone might what one to motorize ,and they are alot stronger made out of 3/16 on the dropouts. This clone wont take a big tire so I'm sure the regular dropouts will suffice.....On the other question gtcoma , I married a younger mexican woman ,and her uncle owns a large metal fab shop in monterrey. They are three generations working in the same shop. Its probably a 10000 sq ft building ,with about 25 large punches and presses. I think he has about 30 employees. He is just doing this for me because Im family. With NAFTA you can have anything made in mexico and bring it over here with no taxes. You have to pay some fees ,but its not much. I think they buy lunch with it. ha ha

As it looks right now, I am hoping to have 10 Colson clones in the next two to three weeks and it just a matter of how long it takes them to do these Western Flyer clones.Probably a month or so to ship. I had planned to do some in aluminum ,but that didnt pan out.

I cant see the whole picture, but from what I see it is nice.. What price range are we looking at for either frame Unk? Im a tall guy in need of some leg room..lol

I dont understand why you cant see the whole picture. If you go to photobucket.com and then puretexan2 the pics are there. I'm not sure on the cost yet till i actually get them in my hands. I will try to keep the price as low as i possible can. This is really not about the money. My goal is to have a bunch of people have a cool frame that lets you stretch out and not look like a monkey on a coconut. I really am just in this for the fun and knowing I built something that someone would appreciate. In streetrods I built a car and spent $16000 ,then I paid to enter shows to let people see my car. It didnt make much sense. At least here i can acomplish the same thing for alot less money . ha ha

Whether or not the whole picture fits in the thread frame depends on the screen size and monitor resolution. I run 2 screens and i can see more of the picture on one than the other.

As far as the factory hookup goes, that's a sweet deal.

I will be a potential customer for sure. I love building these rat rods on the the old frames, but being 6'3"can make for a circus clown look sometimes.

Im thinking the colson one will handle big guys better. I just really threw the western auto together as a templet. my brother said I should build it really quick to see how it rides. I told him I didnt change anything but just stretch it so the geometry should stay the same. I hate to cut chains ,and get all greasy doing the crank for really nothing just to tear it back apart. so its kinda a chance. It sat good and I was pleased with the look. I will know when I get it back.

The forum is set to display 800x600 images on 17" monitors and larger.

If you're on a laptop you may have trouble.

If you have a real wide screen like a 21" or larger you will see the images above with room to spare.
