Nexus 4 Speed Cable Shortening

I just put this 4 speed nexus hub on my 53' CCM. I am wanting to mount the shifter on the down tube and run a jocky shift style shifter on it. How do I go about shortening the cable and indexing it properly so all the gears work good? Is it as easy as lining up the red marks in 4th gear and tightening the cable?

By the way, this things got some serious top end now

I use a grinder with a cut off wheel..pull some cable thru,and leave alot of extra cable!mark it and chop it off. then trim cable as needed.
