Hi .... i just powder coated my wheel for my current build ... and i have a question ...

do you know if there is some non-marking brake pad ?? and no i dont want to use coaster brake ....

I think that the white Kool Stop pads are not supposed to mark up rims.

or i'm thinking of using a fix gear with no brake.......

The pads will get dirty and scuff it....Even if the pads are clear or white, it`s going to mark the powder eventually. No brakes is kinda` risky.

AGREED, even if the pads dont leave a mark, the powder coating will eventually wear down. aside from being a poor braking surface.

No matter what you use, you're going to wear the coating off of rims if you use the brakes. It's not the pads that do this but the abrasive dust and road grime that gets under them that will wear off the finish.
I've replaced rims on bikes that get used hard because the pads wore through the rim itself.

Maybe consider a drum front hub? You could leave the cantis on the fork if you ever choose to go with a non-painted front rim or move the powder coated one to a new project.

Any pad will scuff the rim, thats the nature of the beast.

Roll the dice and have to deal with it.

Call it patina.Let them Know Its Been Riden!
