Well amiss the other gifts I got this Christmas this one is my favorite by far. My brother asked me to head out to the garage at my parents farm after everyone opened gifts and said you still have one more to open. I walked out and there was a blanket with a bow draped over it. I took it off and was so geeked! Partially because it was flipping cool but also because he told me about it a few weeks prior and I really wanted it. One of his friends wanted to sell it but couldn't come up with a price. My brother doesn't have much money so he traded a load of fire wood for it and gave it to me. It's a 77 jc penny Pinto built by an Austrian company called kromag powered by a puch e50 engine. I really can't wait to tear into it and make it run again, not only that but mod it to the max! I will try to keep you guys updated on it and get back with the rollfast project. Life had been hectic the past year and with my new job I should have the time and money for more projects!

Well I spent the past few weeks tearing it down and cleaning it up. I hit it hard with soap, water, bar keepers friend, and this swanky new rust dissolver from wd-40 which works like a charm! (I may post a thread on it) I bought some lower wide bars and a sweet banana seat+sissy bar! Bicycle parts on a moped? Why not! (don't worry the sissy bar is getting cut and attached to the rack) Other than that she is staying the factory bright yellow which is all sparkley thanks to some boiled linseed oil!

I also disassembled the speedo and cleaned it as well as painted the needle. It was kind of a clever design because the metal ring at the top interchanges with the lower one under the plastic. The upper one was crusty and the lower one wasn't so they got the ol switcheroo. The vibration rubber got flipped too and it all looks brand new!

I also ordered this awesome set of color matching fenders off eBay for a 78 jc penny swinger 2 for cheap. To be honest I dislike chrome fenders so this was a God send for me. (I'm actually not big on chrome at all, but in small doses its fine!) [emoji41]

I also tore the engine down and split the case. It was a tad rusty in there so fingers crossed I can still clean her up and get her running. The previous owners drained the trans fluid out and moisture got in it... So a new set of bearings and seals as well as a fancy new 70cc jug+cylinder+head as well as a new high flow carb and tuned bi-turbo exhaust should make it all better! I will post pics of the engine when I get a chance!

Well, after a lot of work and patience it's all finished! I added a chrome faring which I painted to match the tank. I can't wait till spring to break this thing in!

Gotta have the pony!

It's the salt on the roads and parking lot that worries me. The road commission likes to dump it on regardless if it's needed or not. If it rains hard for a few days and dries up I will for sure!

Nice bike! They are a very good moped, puch mechanicals and a tube frame are hard to beat. I've had two Jc Penny Swingers (basically the same as the pinto without the chrome). Did you get a set of jets for tuning when you're ready to start er' up? If not you better pick some up from treatland.

Thanks man! The fenders are off of a 78 swinger. I had issues with spark because they use the horn as an external ignition ground and it uses a reverse horn switch that is closed when it's not depressed. Im just using that wire as an ignition switch with a key and the hot side of the lighting wire for a new horn. Since the one on it has an open circuit. It should be a blast scooting around on it tho! [emoji41]

The shop that built the engine said that it should be tuned close for the build, but they will tune it properly in the spring free of charge. I tend to stray away from tuning two stroke carbs just because they are so finicky. (too rich and it fowls plugs, too lean and... Well... RIP piston/ crank.)

Just a quick update. I added some Era correct mirrors, custom chain guards, a custom rear mud guard/registration tag holder, a front mud guard, an ignition switch, and a new fork lock! Now I just need a warm day to ride! [emoji41]

My brother is a small engine mechanic and he built his Tomas moped back in the day...standard bore cylinder, carburetor was bored 2mm over cylinder was ported and polished, timing on intake and exhaust were raised, head shaved .030, expansion chamber added and ignition timing advanced from 2mm from TDC to 3.5, clutch work on 2 speed transmission to give more stall and make it shift harder into second. It went as fast as 57mph... that's what the ticket said that he got from the NC Highway Patrol.

Nope, certainly not it's a 70cc smoker for sure. She runs pretty good for what it is. The circuit pipe on it and the high compression head gives it that nice sound. I will see about getting a driving video and I will see what I can do about the video link. Might have to upload to YouTube.
