odd trades for bicycles?

I've gotten offers from CLers to trade Ipods for a bike of mine in the past (always assumed they were stolen so never responded), but recently have been getting more trade offers. Over the weekend, I was asked if I would trade wine for a kid's bike of mine. !! I did notice a new show on cable TV called trade kings or somethingarather where some dudes take a small item and uptrade to a fancier item... I wonder if that is what is going on? People getting burnt out on American picking so they are going to be king o trades?


What is the oddest (not necessarily bad) trade you've been involved in involving a bike?

I like to trade stuff also but never wine I have traded bow an arrows for fishing gear an boats an boat motors I've hauled things for people an taken things in trade for that service anytime I can keep money in my pocket is a good day

I had a Schwinn mountain bike a few years back I traded for a mint looking Honda express 2 moped. Cleaned the carb and it ran great.

Weirdest I have been offered was an alligator or tattoo work.

my wife just reminded me of a trade I made for a car I guess it was weird I raised pitt bulls for a long time an a guy wanted puppy I had once an he traded me a 70 nova for the pup an a leash to walk her home on

Never been lucky enough to barter up to the kind things they do on barter kings, and only seem to barter bikes for bikes. some of the best barters i did was old stereo equipment for for a gas RC car then for a laptop. and another was a set of 33 inch junkyard tires and rims (that I drove on for a year) for a set of 12inch subs and amp (used them for a year and a half) then traded them for a Ipod nano for my wife.

Yep, he said he was getting too big for his cage. Said it was about 3 feet long. I'm not a fan of loosing limbs so I declined. Not to mention I don't know the legality of owning one.

I traded 2 bikes and some bike work for this VW bus about 16 years ago. It needed work but I got it on the road with minimal effort.

I miss that old bus

A VW van for two bikes? Why can't I find deals like that? I did get a '62 Corvair Greenbriar in trade for a home built recumbent trike but it was a heap, wish I'd have kept the bike It was a fun bike to ride.

I traded a couple old nitro RC cars and trucks for my first cruiser a few years back. Now I have 3 cruisers and some othe style bikes. I haven't looked back. My friend traded a bike he fixed up from a thrift store for a plane ride. He even got to fly the plane for a bit!

I'd do that deal in a minute, and I've already flown a crop duster. It is a blast!

I traded a GT bmx bike for a Yamaha TriMoto ATC back in the 80's. That thing was a blast to ride, later sold it for a good profit. I traded another GT bmx bike for a set of Centerlines and tires for my Camaro, and I've traded bikes for RC cars and RC boats.
Here in Florida it is absolutely against the law to own an alligator, It's also against the law to feed or mess with them in any way. My neighbors had a baby gator for a while, but he grew to 3 feet pretty quickly and they released him. Not a very good choice for a pet. We get them in our backyard every now and again.

I had a guy offer to trade me fossil shark teeth for a bike. I have quite a collection of shark teeth and I knew that they weren't worth what he said they were, but I just found it so strange that he would think anyone selling anything would have shark teeth instead of money. :?
