Ask Stretch, I think he did something on a Monark down on the rocker arms. A little different but might work. You could always find a bolt of the right length and diameter then slip a pipe or something over it.

Bumping this to "Bike Talk" to get more airtime

I believe that's called a Shoulder Bolt. I think Lowes has longer ones. My old lawnmower used them for axles. I don't know about shorter ones. McMaster-Carr shows various sizes, not sure what size you need, though, but they're a wholesale place. Find a GOOD hardware store or fastener store and check 'em out. Here in the Dallas area, that would be Elliotts Hardware or various industrial bolt places.

have you got a drill press, grinder(or even a file), and s.a.e. tap and die set........you could make one in about 10 minutes
or like cman said get some tubing that fits snug over the bolt(probably the easiest and fastest way)

Go to your Local ACE Hardware.
I'm always amazed by the weird stuff
they keep in stock. That should be a cinch
for them. Probably under a buck too. If it comes
down to it, drop it in the mail to me, I'll make a few
of 'em for Ya.

Lol Rustin.. yeah i think duct tape would give her a little too MUCH flex.

Thanks a million markm and artgeco. You kinda guys are what makes this hobby and website so great, always lookin to help another guy out. Dad got em fixed for me tho, check the purple pavement pounders build log in rrbbo3.. Thanks again guys. Keep on Peddlin' 8)

Ricky, there is a place on 7 mile (I think) that makes and sells nothing but nuts and bolts. I know its in either Redford or maybe Farmington. Sorry I'm not more help. Best of luck.
Long live the Evans!

It may sound screwy, but I would dig through the bolt bins at the hardware store for both the shoulder part and the correct bolt. Then I would try to fill the void between the bolt and the shoulder piece with JB weld. I did this on my '60 Olds years ago for a bracket bolt and it held up great. Cheers
