When I started stretching frames ,I looked online for some really old bikes to copy. The really funny thing was when they first started making bikes they pretty much look like the ones today. Maybe added another bar ,but all in all bikes are one of the few things that have remained true to their original design.

A lot of technology was originated in bikes. Things like ball bearings, spoke wheels, suspension systems, brakes, planetary gear drives, etc. When William Bendix first developed an electric starter for automobiles, he found a solution that solved the limitations of his starter at a company that made bicycle hubs called Eclipse Machine Company. Eclipse had the capability to manufacture a threaded device that greatly increased the reliability of his starter by enabling it to disengage from the engine. A couple of years after that, almost every new vehicle sold had an electric starter. That's why it's called a starter bendix. Thanks!!!

I'd have to disagree. When "safety bikes" were invented, things haven't changed a whole lot after that. But they were a drastic departure from the first 30 or 40 years of bicycling.
