old honda delco-remy question

i picked up a sweet little 1965 s-65 for a song.

gonna work at it over the easter weekend. (wasn't running)
anyhoo, came with a parts bike. found this bolted to the parts bike where the rear peg should be.
its obviously not original and i'm kinda at a loss.

is it to boost power on this little 6volt system?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably just an available coil that worked. :?

An old coil, from back in the days of points and condensers. My 55 Chevy had one of those.

Thats a great score..Super clean...any old coil will work...The original is much smaller and should be under the gas tank...I think..? May be not ..I rode on as a kid...
