Got this baycrest (I think ccm made them) mixte. Cleaned up nice. Suntour components. Already on craigs

And I bought this 98 GT STS DS

It was cheap, but when I went to look at it I saw it was a hodge podge of parts and the frame needed bearings replaced BAD. I really shoulda walked away, but I bought it for under 2 bills. I wanted a STS bad back when I was in high school, but ended up getting something else.

Took it apart last night after kind of washing it (the dirt is fully encrusted and my hose wasn't powerful enough). Wished I'd just re-sold it. 2 shocks bolts/washers were broken, the chainring had almost no teeth left (behind the chainguard), the fork needs new bushing (i knew that when I bought it), and everything else is pretty worthless, beside the seat and post. I'm torn between getting new parts for the frame and making it a rider once again, or just cutting my losses and selling it as is. A new main pivot bushing is $80, it needs about $10-20 in hardware, and likely another bushing or two (around $30 each). A good condition similar frame just sold on ebay for $207 with some spare parts. ugh.

Yeah, I've always kinda liked those GT STS's. If you like it and want it, make it into something you can enjoy! Who cares if you spend a little bit more than it's worth. I would've walked away from the mixte, lol.

ha! mixte just sold!! Put it on craigs this morning and a nice chick met me over lunch. Little over $100 profit =)

That helps sooth the pain of the GT a bit. I wouldn't mind building it back up, but I have decent mountain bike already (SC Bullit DH'er and a older trek fuel). Maybe I'll weigh the frame and see what to do from there. It's just such a cool design! I really wish the last owner had actually taken care of it. I do have a Fox fork I could pair up with it...

Dingo, don't get me started on cars... or go-karts... =/

And another thing-i've got a 1994 Park Pre alumax...Its also worthless, And putting money into it bigtime.

But seriously, Keep the bike...Do something with it. Trade it to me!

Did you ever get pictures of the forks?

I did get pics of the forks and put them on imageshack, but now I lost the links. ha! I'll get them up again soon.

I think I'm gonna rebuild it... Gonna pull some more of the bearing soon to see how much it'll cost.
