Original Swing Bikes made in Taiwan?

The Swing Bike ad in the eBay sidebar has a pretty cool original Swing Bike in decent condition. I've never really researched these at all, but while looking at photos the sticker under the BB says MADE IN TAIWAN REP. OF CHINA. I thought this was a crazy American idea. Was it and they just had someone make it in China or what's the story?

I remember hearing somewhere that there were repops made of the swingbike. If that is true, that would explain it. I happen to have one of the originals from my younger days. I did not know what I had...just held on to it cause i liked it

The repros are not made in America. The originals I'm pretty sure were. The repros come up on ebay from time to time
