Seeing as I really hate sanding, and blasting is out of the question, do any of you guys use paint removers? If so which kind do you use or what do you think is best?
I use some Aircraft stripper from my local parts store. It makes the paint bubble and can easily be scraped off. But don't spray it on a windy day, it burns your skin
I don't think I've ever seen one painted in anything aside from body glitter.
Joking aside. 80 grit sandpaper works great and you'll be there a while so you will have time to get intimate with the frame and find every little defect, ding, gouge, etc. before you waste time painting and finding out something was missed.
I've used the Klean-Strip KS-3 and also the Aircraft stripper (I think it's also made by Klean-Strip) from O'reilly Auto Parts. They both work pretty good, but I think the Aircraft stripper works a little faster. With either, depending on the paint, you may have to repeat application 2 or 3 times.
