Painting Letters on Tires

Hey Guys,
Any advice on painting letters on tires. As to what you guys are using for this purpose. I did mine with white sharpie a while back but it seems its starting to crack.

I saw a YouTube video some time ago where the guy used sandpaper, a heat gun, and vinyl decals.
I'll see if it still exists.

Forty years ago I was shown how to polish the sidewall of a tire. Then the logo was sprayed on with flat white primer and a stencil. It's the kind of work you don't see any more because it was labor intensive and low reward. I still hear the call of the wild but I don't always answer it. It is a cruel muse that leads her artist astray, yet she must be answered.
