pairs of bikes

I'm trying to figure out the meaning...lately I keep finding matching pairs of bikes . First , a pair of Autobikes that turned out to be like new , then a pair of AMF 3 speeds, now today a pair of Free Spirit single speed bikes. 8) 8)

They're going to do something together, after a couple of rides, or a couple of seasons, they're done, or one of them is done because of age or infirmity, and the bikes are taking up space.
