So, long story short, i met up with a local character who's uncle owned a bike shop which closed somewhere in the early 90's. He has been sitting on the inventory since then. A few weeks back i picked through 250+ tires. Lots of gumwall 27" kenda stuff but i went away with a decent pile.
last night we met up again to go through the "rest of it". Boxes and boxes of NOS stuff in a dirt floor basement of a decrepid colonial that reeked of cat urnine upstairs. Luckily he had hauled about 1/2 of it into the yard. There were dozens of steel 27"whees, new 7, 6 & 5 speed thumb shifters, Suntour deraleurs and cassetts all new in the package. Sakae cranks, small box of left side crank arms, tubes, tires, water bottles, both newer cruiser style and BMX seats etc. etc. Unfortunately it was all low end and starting to show some wear and tear from sitting around for the past 14 odd years. There is a stack of 1/2 dozen 1970's bikes out back he said i could have. Mostly Schwinn stuff. he as enough parts to build up those frames with totally new drivetrains in he had the interest.
The following photos show what i picked out with the exception of a couple of books (90th anniversary issue American Bicyclist magazine 1968, and a hardcover bike book dated 1973) and an NOS Wald 26" coaster brake wheel, chrome steel.
the frame i believe to be a shcwinn 24". Got a stack of NOS chrome chainring guards and NOS chrome chainguard with all the hardware and instructions. SWEET
brand new pit bulls
nice chrome bars
Odyssey Roller Cam, no cam though and a cool set of friction shifters
And Finally
Oh Yeah, that's GOLD baby!
