Phantom build

Hey yall,

I'm in need of help because this is my first build and i don't know much. I have a Schwinn Black Phantom frame, chainguard, and complete springer front end. I'm leaving the frame all original because it has beautiful patina, but i need to replace the sprockets, rims, spokes, and possibly the front forks because they are bent. What forks, aftermarket sprockets, rims, and spokes will fit on this bike? It's a 26' balloon tire bike but it's gonna be a rat so i don't care if it's original. Please help! Thanks!

Instead of buying all those parts, one by one, I'd look for a newer Schwinn Cruiser and steal all the parts. A nice pair of alloy rims with a Nexus 7 speed can be had on the newer cruisers. You'd be money ahead with one purchase instead of many.
I restored mine to original but if you are going to rat it, you can gets parts from anywhere. My Phantom has original frame and springer but about everything else is repop stuff or '95 Schwinn parts like the seat.
You're just up the road in Decatur. I'm near Findlay. You're welcome to come down and look at my Phantom. Maybe I'll just sell it to you and you won't have to mess with a build!

Thank you very much! You have an absolutely gorgeous bike. I'd love to own it, but my bike was given to me as a gift from a cousin who passed a few years back, so i'm building it in his honor.
You don't happen to know what Schwinn cruisers will interchange with the old parts do you? Or just any 26" cruiser? I'm trying to find some good used forks too because one of mine is bent and my key is broken off in the tumbler.

Keep your eye on Craig's list. I'm not positive which newer Schwinn cruiser I'd get to swap parts. You need to ask around on the forum and find someone that's done it. I got a wheel set from one to put on an old frame and I'm really happy with them but didn't get any other parts. Gary
