Dig your grip creation! I have seen a couple guys coat them in a shellac to keep them looking that way, and protect from wear. It gives a nice vintage sheen too.

Finished cutting all the wood slats. Stained them with leftover from my pub walls:

Since I dont have a proper tank thought about making something. Cut out a flying porkchop using the front chain ring as a template. Thinking I need to blow it up bigger or make several of them:
Well you could always make a set of three, from large to small.

FLYING PORK CHOPS, IN FORMATION:
CUT A COUPLE DIFFERENT SIZES OF THE FLYING PORKCHOPS, THINK I LIKE THE PROPORTIONS OF THESE.
ALSO TRIED A COUPLE DIFFERENT COLORS, TOP CHOP IS Metallic Dark Metal, BOTTOM CHOP IS Aged Brass.

Went back to the original size flying pork chops. These are cut from 1/4" poplar, painted with Aged Brass. Also inserted one of my cardboard templates into the front sprocket:
