Been cold and wet here in Nor Cal. Not much fab work going but some good finds. Any help on dating this Hawthorne would be great. Has a decent repaint and original color looks to be blue. Rear fender has skirt lacing holes. Craigs list find for $75.00 in the dark, in the hood. Kinda risky but brought a good friend and a little prayer. Sometimes it's amazing what we do to score a new prize. Thanks in advance for all who input.

The bike was made for Montgomery Ward by Cleveland Welding. The serial number indicates a manufacturing date between late 1937 and (more likely) early 1938. The frame, fork, fenders and crank all look likely to be original. The seat and wheels are later replacements.

Man you guys are so awesome. Thanks rms37. I spent about 2 hours on line for nodda and you had it posted in less than 30 minutes. Best bicycle website in the universe right here baby.
